Haggard Confesses to Followers
Without going into details, Ted Haggard confessed to “sexual immorality” to his followers.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Less than 24 hours after he was fired from the pulpit of the evangelical megachurch he founded, the Rev. Ted Haggard confessed to his followers Sunday that he was guilty of sexual immorality.
In a letter that was read to the congregation of the New Life Church by another clergyman, Haggard apologized for his acts and requested forgiveness.
“I am so sorry for the circumstances that have caused shame and embarrassment for all of you,” he said, adding that he had confused the situation by giving inconsistent remarks to reporters denying the scandal.
“The fact is I am guilty of sexual immorality. And I take responsibility for the entire problem. I am a deceiver and a liar. There’s a part of my life that is so repulsive and dark that I have been warring against it for all of my adult life,” he said.

In his letter, Haggard said “the accusations made against me are not all true but enough of them are that I was appropriately removed from his church leadership position.”
He did not give details on which accusations were true.
It is a very dark and lonely place in the closet. That’s why healthy, self-affirming homosexuals get out of the closet at soon as possible and self-loathing homosexuals stay in it.
Haggard and all of his followers should apologize to Mike Jones, the gay male prostitute, for believing themselves superior to him and assuming that he was the one who was lying. He was, in fact, the only one telling the truth.
When all this settles down, if Ted Haggard has any capacity left to be truthful–and I’m not sure that he does–he will be grateful to Jones for releasing him from the psychological pain of his denial and self-deception.
The congregation should be grateful to Jones for exposing their pastor as a liar and a fraud in need of serious psychological help.
The fact is that Christians by making heterosexual marriage a requirement for social promotion, have weakened the institution by enabling members of the church who lie to themselves and others about their sexuality which their unfounded belief that heterosexual sex will end the need for homosexual contact.
And if being gay is hereditary they might just be increasing the number of homosexuals in the population, which is fine with me.

I believe Haggard’s biggest crime was being against gay marriage. However, I don’t understand why, if Haggard has publicly admitted to the first degree felony of purchasing methamphetamine (a fact attested to by an eye witness), he is not being criminally prosecuted. This is just another example of selective prosecution of the drug laws (ala Rush Limbaugh and Dub as a young coke snorter–also DWI).

valid point about prosecution for Haggard’s drug use, but then again I don’t see them hauling in the “former” prostitute (and possible drug dealer) Mike Jones based on his admissions either. Maybe both of them have suffered enough from the media anyway.
