Nice little blog about the 250. I also took the msf course here in illinois and passed my test. For slower turns make sure you use clutch regulation and also counterweighting. It will help you on slow turns. NIce blog

that is a nice looking bike. how much did you pay for it otd?
September 26th, 2006 at 8:32 am
$2,999 MSRP, $3,625 OTD.
It’s a lot of bike for that kind of money. And on my first calculation, it got just shy of 70mpg in mixed stop-and-go, highway driving.
October 14th, 2006 at 6:13 pm
so if they want 3,400 OTD for a 2007 ninja 250 its a pretty good deal?
October 15th, 2006 at 9:29 am
I think so.

I took and ‘06 Ninja 250 OTD in Ca for $3447. It nearly killed me to keep it below 4K rpm for the first 500 miles, but I did it. Bought it on 9/30, put in the shop for the 500mi service on 10/14. when I get it back I can run it up to 6k for the next 500 miles, WOO HOO! OK gotta be honest, between 400-500 miles (I did that 100 in a single day), starting at 45 miles of the run I ran it up to 6k for 1/2 mile, then back down to 4K, repeated the process every 5 miles up to 60 miles. Then 6K for one mile, every 5 miles up to 70 miles, then at 75 7K, 80 8K, then back down to 7K, 6K, 7K 8K every 5 miles for one mile until I got to 500. Supposed to get it back from the shop tomorrow Ride Ninja Ride! What a fun bike. Also found it to be a cold hearted beast, complained to the dealer and I won’t accept anything less that it will work as per the owner’s manual, if that takes mod’ing the carb to adjust the fuel mixture.

I’m getting a red one from special order in a couple of weeks, are they a good beginner bike? Because I have a Suzuki Bandit 600S right now, and it’s not the most forgiving of bikes…..
October 27th, 2006 at 9:25 am
Well, it’s going to be a lot lighter than a 600cc bike. Its dry weight is about 300 lbs.
I’m a beginner and I like it a lot. Easy to handle. Zippy.
November 6th, 2006 at 7:48 pm
Okay cool, because my Bandit weighs just shy of 500 pounds. I ordered mine about a month back, and it still hasn’t been released. Are there any good and easy ways to break it in fast?
December 4th, 2006 at 11:14 am
I just got a 07 250r . Its Ebony and red flames. I just put 600 miles. I normally shift @ 8rpm on it and i need to take to the shop for my 500? I wonder if going over the miles by 100 will screw me outta of the warranty?
January 20th, 2007 at 4:12 pm
not to hurt your feelings but my gsxr 600 weighs in at 351lbs dry.
January 20th, 2007 at 6:32 pm
The Suzuki GSX R600 looks like a really nice bike. It ought to be for almost $9,000! That’s about 3 times what I paid for mine which means for every pound you paid almost 3 times as much. LOL
With that kind of power on a lightweight bike, it’s got to be a racer.

Hey all, This will be my second bike. My first was a 1997 GSX-R 600. It was a little large for me, I im buying the Ninja 250R, I was curious, it is a good bike for a shorter person? Im like all of 5′0 and I had alot of trouble with the GSX-R, So I was hopeing this bike would be more of my size, I guess what do you think?
March 18th, 2007 at 5:14 pm
I think it’s a good bike for a smaller person. It’s certainly in the smaller range of bikes.
You might also look into other 250cc cruiser models like the Honda Rebel and Suzuki GZ250 as well as others. Here’s a page of reviews. The cruisers generally sit lower to the ground and are easier to get on and off of than the Ninja.
They specifically note the Honda Rebel as good for people under 5′2″ but didn’t like its lack of power. I’ve ridden a Rebel and Suzuki GZ250 and I’d take the GZ250 any day because it’s heavier and felt more solid. I’m 5′10″ .

please I want ninja bike price and details
March 29th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
hey I’m wanting to get my first bike and the ninja 250R has really caught my eye, since I’m still learing to drive them. What do you think my best beat would be and is the 250R a good bike cuz I’ll be running it at about 60-65 mph on the high way and for around town about 55-60mph. What would you consider
April 25th, 2007 at 6:06 pm
I purchased the 250 a few months ago, and I am quite pleased. best beginner bike in my opinion. Im now looking for some good mods, but its fairly new, and nothing much is out there.
April 29th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
i got a ninja 250 a couple days ago $3270 OTD, the dealership is like 30 miles from my house, and it gets up to 35 at 4k so there was no way i could keep the bike under on the way home or now around town, will it screw the bike up if i take it up to 5k or 6k for a couple miles at a time, i only have about 100miles on it

I have a 2005 Ninja 250. It is my first bike and it is a great starter bike.
I had the easiest time in my safety training course because of the size and weight of the bike. It was a breeze. I use it mostly for commuting to and from work, which is a 88 mile round trip. I average 70MPG. I can ride it on the freeway. It is a bit tough to cruise long distances at highway speeds on a windy day but otherwise, you can do it. I usually prefer to take regular roads with an average speed of 45 MPH. I am 6′ 3″ and I find that the bike fits me just fine. The weight distribution is nice. I do start to cramp up after about an hour and a half of driving but I hardly ever drive longer than that. I am currently at 9,550 miles and not one problem with the bike. I am about to take it in for my next service appointment which consists of an extensive 20 point check and an oil change. It will cost about $250 plus parts. I will be paying off the bike this year and I will probably keep it for the mileage with the way gas prices are going. I am REALLY interested in getting a Can Am Spyder for leisurely driving but as I am about to purchase a new home, that will have to wait. In the mean time, I will enjoy my Ninja 250.

I am buying an ‘07 Ninja 250R within a few days. The new Candy Plasma Blue with the silver flames is the bike that caught my eye the most. This will be my first bike and i was wondering how i should go about breaking it in?
June 8th, 2007 at 1:03 pm
I’m thinking of buying the 07 ninja 250R but i live in New Brunswick Canada
and I was wondering if there were any sources around my area 2 get it. If now does anyone know of any companies that will have it shipped here for dirt cheap??
June 28th, 2007 at 5:25 pm
I just bought a 2007 Ninja ZX600R, it is so smooth and well balanced I am amazed. It claims to do 200 out the box, and did it ever. I see the 250 is 300 lbs, well the 600 is only 381. I used to cruise a 1991 Honda Interceptor I will ever go back to Honda after my Ninja.

I have a 06 Ninja 250. And its fun as heck to ride.
An awesome source of information regarding the Ninja 250, is on
http://www.Ninja250.org
I learned how to do my first oil change from there.. pretty simple once
you do it the first time. I made a video of it too. Watch it, and you
wont be paying some mechanic to change your oil.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX1uVnyXhEQ
hope it helps.

Editor’s Note: The video is over nine minutes long and doesn’t
actually show an oil change, just the owner struggling to get the bolt off to
let the oil out. You won’t even see the oil coming out or instructions
for how to put it back in. The video also doesn’t show changing the
oil filter which should be done whenever the oil is changed, otherwise
you’re just running clean oil through a dirty filter which will only
make it dirty faster.

I own a 1994 Kawasaki Ninja EX250R that bought brand new in 1994, currently with 15,000 miles. Never had a problem, very reliable. I am a certified MSF Rider Coach and I would recommend them for a beginner. I also own a 1991 Honda CBR 1000F, quick and fast, but too heavy for me for teaching, (I’m 5′8″ and 153 lbs). The EX250 Ninja is a great bike to learn on. Light, quick, fast enough, freeway legal, and very forgiving. How to break them in? Read and follow your owners manual. Great source of information. Be safe and happy motoring!

I have a 2007-Ninja 250R. I find that the engine runs really hot and I’m constantly looking down to see if my legs have caught on fire. Anyone else having this experience?

That is a great bike for the money, and an excellent place to start for any beginner.
