The Binary Circumstance

A plane was detained for more than three hours at Dulles Internation Airport near Washington, DC yesterday while U.S. government officials questioned passengers. No evidence of terrorism was found.

The latest interruption of international air transport by the U.S. government came during a week when several other flights were either cancelled or delayed:

British Airways canceled one of its three daily flights from London to Washington on Thursday following security advice from the British government, a spokesman for the airline said. The incident was one of nearly a dozen this week in which international flights have been cancelled or subjected to extra scrutiny because of possible terror threats.

A Department of Transport spokeswoman said she was unable to comment on matters of security or whether the cancellation was a result of a specific threat.

Long before the days of airplanes, people used to travel across the seas on ships. Bands of pirates roamed the seas and halted passenger and cargo ships at will, looting the ships and passengers, making up their own law, and generally interferring with free trade and travel.

Mexico, which had one flight grounded by U.S. officials, is questioning U.S. government actions:

Earlier this week, a scheduled U.S.-bound flight from Mexico was canceled because of security concerns.

“The government of Mexico made the decision to cancel Aeromexico Flight 490 after the U.S. government shared threat information with the Mexican government,??? Department of Homeland Security spokesman Brian Roehrkasse said.

Previous reports said the plane turned around in midair, but Roehrkasse and Mexican officials said it never took off. Roehrkasse denied that the U.S. government told Mexico it would refuse the plane landing rights.

However Agustin Gutierrez, Mexico’s presidential spokesman, said the flight was canceled after United States authorities said they would refuse to allow it to land. He also said Mexico did not receive convincing information for the cancellation.

“The question is what threat???? Gutierrez said. “This question must be answered by Homeland Security. If we are going to have a good climate of cooperation, the least that we can hope for are reasons.???

Mexican officials found no evidence of a threat on the flight, Gutierrez said.

What? He wants reasons? Mystics don’t have to give reasons. They just give orders and we are expected to obey, just like mommy and daddy trained us to. We are being trained to believe that the government can halt any airplane that it wants when it says it has a “credible threat.” But they have no obligation to produce evidence of what the threat is.

We are expected to place blind faith in their actions; to accept that it’s for our own good. Just like religions that tell us what God’s will is and how we will be punished if we don’t obey God’s will, their is no requirement to produce evidence that what they’re saying is true. The only guarantee is that we will be punished if we don’t give them control over our lives.

Putting blind faith in people who produce no evidence that what they believe is true, is a one-way trip back to the Dark Ages or Nazi Germany. Take your pick. Information available from your travel agent.
