Michael Jackson’s Delusions
Posted in Television on December 31st, 2003 by Chip GibbonsIn an interview with Ed Bradley on CBS’s 6o Minutes this past Sunday, Michael Jackson claimed that he was mistreated by Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department Officials when he was booked on child molestration charges recently. Jackson claimed that his shoulder was dislocated, that bruising on his right mid-forearm was caused by handcuffs that were too tight, and that he was locked in a bathroom with feces smeared on the walls for 45 minutes. (Interview transcript here.)
It is quite obvious from video tapes of his exit from the Sheriff’s Department that his arms were working fine; he raised each arm and a different time to flash a victory “V” to crowds, something that would be impossible to do with a dislocated shoulder.
The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department released both audio and video tapes today that seem to indicate that Jackson was polite and did not complain during the booking procedure.
If Jackson continues to make statements that are so obviously out of sync with evidence, he will have no credibility at all when facing the child molestation charges. People will only become more convinced that he is delusional and therefore incapable of knowing what the truth is.
UPDATE 1/11/2004: The State also has credibility problems. See my post, The State v. Michael Jackson.
