Michael Jackson’s Delusions

Posted in Television on December 31st, 2003 by Chip Gibbons

In an interview with Ed Bradley on CBS’s 6o Minutes this past Sunday, Michael Jackson claimed that he was mistreated by Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department Officials when he was booked on child molestration charges recently. Jackson claimed that his shoulder was dislocated, that bruising on his right mid-forearm was caused by handcuffs that were too tight, and that he was locked in a bathroom with feces smeared on the walls for 45 minutes. (Interview transcript here.)

It is quite obvious from video tapes of his exit from the Sheriff’s Department that his arms were working fine; he raised each arm and a different time to flash a victory “V” to crowds, something that would be impossible to do with a dislocated shoulder.

The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department released both audio and video tapes today that seem to indicate that Jackson was polite and did not complain during the booking procedure.

If Jackson continues to make statements that are so obviously out of sync with evidence, he will have no credibility at all when facing the child molestation charges. People will only become more convinced that he is delusional and therefore incapable of knowing what the truth is.

UPDATE 1/11/2004: The State also has credibility problems. See my post, The State v. Michael Jackson.

Food for Thought

MakeOutCity has some interesting quotes from other blogs on the subject of religion and politics.

There are also some postings pertaining to the subject of how agriculture and the resulting changes in the food supply may be impacting evolution.

The intersection of religion (mysticism), politics and evolution get me hot. As a biologist, I am primarily interested in how mandatory coercive governments based on mystical premises are altering the evolution of the human species; turning man into a race of highly organized insects, less capable of rational thought with each new generation.

I will try to summarize this briefly:

Religion = Death #2

The death toll from God’s dreadful Christmastime terrosit act, the 6.6-magnitude earthquake in the Islamic Republic of Iran has now topped 25,000 and is expected to increase:

More than 25,000 bodies have been retrieved since Friday’s 6.6-magnitude earthquake shook the city and surrounding region in southeast Iran, according to provincial government spokesman Asadollah Iranmanesh.

“Many, many more people remain buried under the rubble, increasing fears of a much greater death toll at the end,??? Iranmanesh said.

Some officials have expressed fears that the death toll could rise as high as 40,000. More than 100,000 people reportedly are homeless.

Synchronized Terrorist Earthquakes

Posted in Humor, Science on December 28th, 2003 by Chip Gibbons

Grumpy Times reports that earth was terrorized by no less than six earthquakes of 6.5-magnitude or greater between December 21 and 26. As we know from al-Qaida operations, it is not uncommon for terrorists to launch carefully orchestrated attacks designed to strain rescue operations and create the impression that there is no refuge from terrorism.

Also, all of these earth-shaking terrorist acts, including the most deadly attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran, occurred after the U.S. raised the Terror Alert Level, lending credibility to the Bush Administration’s claim of direct ties to God, the only terrorist with the ability to launch six high-magnitude, deadly earthquakes in five days.
